Like the mosque, the Sikh temple is also a historic building in Hong Kong. The mosque stands prominently in Tsim Sha Tsui, while the Sikh temple is quietly situated in Happy Valley.
As early as the 1840s, Sikhs arrived in Hong Kong as part of the British garrison. Since they were public servants with religious needs, the first Sikh temple in Hong Kong was established in 1901 to cater to them.
