The exhibition "Pretopia" by Polish artist Alicja Kwade at the Jockey Club Art Hall in Tai Kwun ended at the beginning of the month. If you missed the exhibition but are still curious about the artist, you can still visit her public project "Waiting Pavilion" in the prison yard of Tai Kwun and may find inspiration from it.
The artist's first museum-level solo exhibition in Hong Kong, "Pretopia", and the public project "Waiting Pavilion" both use various materials to create installations that surround the viewer in a specific space, exploring the gap between human inner and external perspectives through visual and spatial illusions. Kwade's works are mostly presented in large installations and sculptures, and holding the exhibition in Tai Kwun, which was formerly a prison, further strengthens the artist's concept of "Pretopia".
